KITBAG CONTINUES TO DRIVE THEIR GLOBAL EXPANSION AFTER LAUNCHING ON EBAY AUSTRALIA

29 September 2016

London, 29th September: Pentagon is pleased to announce the launch of our client, Kitbag, on eBay Australia. Already selling on eBay UK and Amazon UK, the sporting goods retailer plans to open up more marketplaces stores across the globe to further support their international expansion activity.

eBay Australia is the country’s leading ecommerce site, in a market that is expected to surpass US$24 billion in 2018. Currently the 10th largest ecommerce market in the world, with the number of online shoppers predicted to exceed 81% of the population by 2018, Australia is a great stepping stone for Kitbag to explore new global territories and grow their brand awareness.

Through Pentagon’s global managed service solution, Kitbag’s products have been optimised, automated and fully listed on eBay Australia by the Pentagon team. Their dedicated account manager provided Kitbag with local consumer insights and supported the development of a tailored go-to market strategy.

“I have been amazed at how responsive Pentagon have been. Having used a different company in the past I came in with a negative perception of this kind of managed service but have now been completely converted. Pentagon are very quick to respond to any potential ideas or issues that you may have and also have an extremely fast turnaround”, commented Chris Hiam, Marketplace Executive at Kitbag.

Hiam added, “[Pentagon] are extremely knowledgeable and always keep up to date with all the latest marketplace trends allowing us to stay ahead of the curve and comply to any new changes that are brought in.”

With a mature economy and steadily growing ecommerce market, which is home to the second largest online population in the Asia-Pacific region, Australia offers a stable and sizable English language online retail market that benefits from close proximity to Japan and China.

What’s more, Australia’s extra-ordinary cross-border purchasing – 69% of Australian online shoppers do it – is a clear indicator of consumers’ desire for products from UK retailers, due to lower prices, greater product availability and a tax exemption on foreign purchases under US$765. These purchases are being driven by shoppers in the 18-39 age range, who account for 54% of all cross-border purchases.
